Gaming Malta together with the Parliamentary Secretary for Financial Services, Digital Economy and Innovation organised Playcon, Malta’s first Game Development and Esports Expo as part of the DELTA Summit and Malta Tech Week held between Thursday 3rd and Sunday 6th October 2019, at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre (MFCC) in Ta’ Qali.
The Expo showcased the educational value of games and esports, while students were given the opportunity to experience the principles of learning found in good game designs.
During the Expo, students attended a selected number of workshops and interactive experiences, including hands-on activities like a digital treasure-hunt, a sim-racing challenge, a virtual-reality game of pictionary and play a number of games including Minecraft (Education Edition).
Several workshops were by the Ministry for Education and Employment as part of the EU Code Week, where students experienced coding in a fun and interactive way. Students also toured the Expo and the various stands related to esports and careers in game design and development.
